I have been pretty set on a traditional wedding veil since the very beginning. Maybe it’s because when I watch “Say Yes to the Dress” I get so excited when they “jack them up” and put the whole look together with a veil as the finishing touch. I love the idea of a birdcage veil (so dainty!) and I think that fascinators are stinkin’ awesome (like the AMAZING one shown below that was worn in a recent Southern Weddings post)….but I have to say, sometimes it just doesn’t get prettier than a bride in a gorgeous flowing veil.

As I mentioned yesterday, my dear aunt will be making my veil for our big day and it is my hope that this piece becomes a family heirloom (just let this girl dream, ok?).
In the many blogs and websites I scour on a daily basis I am always drawn to images of brides with long elaborate veils with sweet details. Though some may think it’d be a little much, I am a sucker for the chapel and cathedral lengths. Go big or go home! One of this weekend’s tasks is to sit down with my aunt and discuss our plans for my veil. We will need to take measurements with my gown on. I have also gathered some images of inspiration to share with her in hopes that we will find something just perfect to go with the style and the idea of a loooooong veil I have been so hung up on!
The only think my mom and I are both a little concerned with on the length of a veil is the chance that it could get stepped on or pulled out at some point before I make it down the aisle. Now, that wouldn’t be such a big problem if it was my dress…but a veil would be attached to my hair which could present a little problem (scratch that…we all know that’d be a BIG problem) if it was tugged at. I’m hoping my bridesmaids will help me to be extra careful to avoid any of that drama but we shall see!

Katharine’s veil has always been one of my favorites! There are only so many days in your life when it’s acceptable to wear an elaborate headpiece (like, one), so I say go big or go home! You can always wear an awesome fascinator for a costume party!
