100 days left until we say “I do!”
That is so exciting and scary all at the same time! This weekend I will be traveling home to Kansas City and I am so excited for what’s in store for this “Wedding-Marathon” of a weekend!
Saturday
We’ll kick it off bright and early on Saturday morning with my sweet Aunt Kristy taking measurements and pulling together inspiration photos (a post on tap for tomorrow!) for what we would like my veil to look like. How sweet is it that my aunt will be making my veil for me? I think it has potential be become a treasured family heirloom and something like that will make this girl’s heart melt!
Following this brainstorming session we will head over to BRS’ aunt’s home for a mid-morning bridal shower with the women on both sides of our family. (Did you see the precious invitations the hostesses designed?) I cannot wait to celebrate this fun time with those we love!
On Saturday afternoon I have my first dress fitting! (Woo!) We are actually planning on making some custom alterations to my gown that I am just giddy about! Nothing like making your gown one-of-a-kind!
Our final wedding to-do for Saturday will be a walk through of our ceremony site. I think it will bring me piece of mind to be able to visualize and discuss ceremony details within the actual walls of the site. I am also anxious to get a feel for where photographs can be taken around and within the church.
Sunday
I am looking forward to worship back in my home church, Liberty Christian Fellowship, with my family! Sometimes there’s nothing better than being in a place that feels so much like home and with those who have encouraged your walk for a majority of your years! We’re going to try to keep our day-of-rest as relaxing as possible with all of the other appointments we have over the weekend!
The only task we have on tap for Sunday should be delicious! We will be sampling cake! Now to be honest, I’m not a huge cake fanatic and unlike most brides & grooms, BRS and I really didn’t insist on having cake at our reception. But…because we know some of our guests look forward to this aspect of a wedding day we decided to incorporate this into our game plan. We were referred to Great Cake by my dear friend, Jeni Lewis and we are excited to see what they have for us to sample!
Monday
Back in August I watched a friend’s wedding film and felt like I finally got closer to what I had been searching for on the film front (most importantly, within my budget) in Kansas City. Early on Monday morning I will be meeting for a consultation with this artist to discuss a potential wedding film for BRS & I. Looking forward to discussing the process, ideas I have and inspiration for the film!
In the afternoon my Mom and I will head down to our reception site for an on-site meeting with our florist, Becky at Beco Flowers. I believe this meeting is what I have been looking most forward to. Planning from states away can be so difficult when you have a vision but aren’t able to see the venue space on a regular basis. It will help to walk through with Becky to discuss plans and visions for the day.

As you can see this could be a crazy-busy weekend but will be so much fun! My mom and I are looking forward to lots of quality time together, something we’ve been needing for a while now!
These next 100 days will be full of fun posts on our progress…can’t wait to share this time with y’all! (Be sure to come back tomorrow for a post on the inspiration for my veil!)
